Two small head wounds told only�a fraction of what happened during a little girl’s short life, according to a recently released autopsy report.
Khloe Alice Dean lived only seven months, the last few weeks fighting for her life in a hospital bed in Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.
The small baby succumbed to her injuries April 28, but the investigation into her death wasn’t over. Initially charged with child abuse, Khloe’s parents now face one count each of first-degree murder.
Steven Glenn Dean, 35,�and Morgan Lyndsay Conn, 34,�of Rehobeth Church Road, Shelby,�are behind bars awaiting trial.
A report by the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office says Khloe died from blunt force trauma to the head. The 17-page document describes injuries to her brain and a broken arm. It also indicates she likely suffered previous abuse before being taken to the hospital on March 24.
