SNL’s “Weekend Update” cracked a joke about the recent robbery of a Fayetteville Sprint store by a woman toting a large rifle.
It wasn’t the robber — allegedly a 23-year-old Lumberton woman — who was the butt of anchor Colin Jost’s jab. Instead, it was the mobile carrier Sprint.
“Police in North Carolina are searching for a woman who robbed a Sprint store,” Jost said in the Aug. 10 episode.
“The woman was able to break in because even the security gate at Sprint as two bars,” he deadpanned, to the audience’s laughter.
Fayetteville police have taken out warrants accusing Hillary Cheyenne Carver of the 300 block of Norment Road in Lumberton with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possessing stolen property.
The robbery on July 31 was around 7:25 p.m. at the west Fayetteville store on Good Middling drive off Raeford Road near Cliffdale Road.
The woman walked in holding the rifle and demanded cell phones. She left in a dark blue Mazda.
