FRAMINGHAM — City leaders could soon consider opening up additional retail marijuana licenses for dispensaries seeking to come to Framingham.
Westborough’s Cannapreneur Partners, an investment firm that funds marijuana businesses, wrote a letter to city councilors requesting that Framingham add more retail marijuana licenses for prospective dispensaries.
“Cannapreneur Partners (CP) respectfully requests the Framingham City Council’s consideration with respect to issuing additional recreational cannabis dispensary licenses to qualified operators up to the maximum allowable by the state,” Michael Scott, CEO of Cannapreneur Partners, wrote in the letter.
The firm is the primary capital provider for Mint Delivery, which is applying for a marijuana delivery license in Framingham. Cannapreneur Partners is also about to commence construction on a recreational marijuana dispensary in Mendon, according to the letter.
The city initially limited the number of retail marijuana licenses to six a few years ago. All six retail licenses have been issued. There is no cap on medical or manufacturing licenses.
