NICHOLAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) — A man is facing multiple charges after a lengthy chase and search.
Robert Hicks, 46, of Nicholas County, is charged with destruction of property, fleeing, nighttime burglary and driving on a revoked license.
According to a release, deputies attempted a traffic stop Wednesday evening in the Mt. Lookout Road area of Nicholas County.
The suspect then rammed the officer and took off driving through several people’s property before crashing into a tree.
He then took off on foot into a wooded area. A bloodhound was called in from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department.
Nicholas County 911 got a tip the man had forced his way into a person’s home through a basement door and had just left.
Officers responded and found items left behind inside.
That’s when officers identified the suspect as Robert Hicks.
Officers searched a home early Thursday morning believed to be connected with Hicks.
Cocaine, meth, marijuana and pills were found inside.
While doing the search, a person called 911 saying Hicks showed up at their house wanting a ride.
