Raleigh, N.C. — During a court hearing Wednesday on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of marijuana, Allan Gylmar Maldonado, 18, asked for and received a lower bond. By Thursday morning, he was out of jail.
Maldonado was arrested in connection with a video that surfaced last week on Facebook of a 16-month-old child smoking marijuana, authorities said. A judge ordered him to have to contact with the child.
Maldonado asked the have the bond lowered because he faces charges of driving with a revoked license in Johnston County.
In court, he denied an allegation that he is the child’s father. The mother, 20-year-old Brianna Ashanti Lofton, faces charges of felony child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of marijuana.
The judge told Maldonado that his paternity would have no bearing on the case.
Warrants obtained by WRAL News confirm the child was smoking marijuana and state the incident happened around December or January.
