AMARILLO, TEXAS — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop Thursday on IH-40, yielding over 33 pounds of marijuana valued at over $146,000.
At approximately 4:33 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Honda Civic traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Conway in Carson County.
The occupants of the Civic were identified as Heidy Joshah Hogan, 40, and Brian Alfred Ottaviano, 34, both of Ashville, N.C. During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered the marijuana in the luggage.
Hogan and Ottaviano were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana over five pounds but less than fifty, a third-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from an unknown location in Colorado to Ashville, N.C.
