CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police discovered a marijuana grow operation after helping residents with a pipe burst during last week’s cold weather.
Police said officers were called to assist the Charlotte Fire Department last Friday at an apartment complex on Carya Pond Lane when they discovered a strong marijuana odor coming from an apartment unit where one of the pipes burst.
After getting a warrant, officers searched the apartment unit where the odor was coming from and discovered marijuana and grow operation tools.
During the search, officers confiscated 22 marijuana plants, 19 heat lamps, fans, humidifier and a glass jar of pot.
Officers executed the search on Friday evening. Police are still investigating who was involved in the grow operation.
