BECKLEY — Nine people were arrested for drug related charges in Raleigh County.
The Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, which is comprised of the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Police and Beckley Police Department, announced Friday that they had taken part in a massive drug bust netting nine arrests.
The nine suspects were arrested with various charges such as conspiracy, possession and delivery. The operation netted some heroin, meth and marijuana.
Raleigh County Sheriff Scott Van Meter said five of the nine arrested were from Detroit, “I think I can speak for everybody, all the police agencies in this county, when I say Detroit is not welcome in Raleigh County.”
During a Friday press conference, Beckley Police Chief Lonnie Christian said they would also test the recovered drugs for traces of fentanyl.
Police located five firearms, 296.2 grams of heroin with the approximate value of $58,000, they found marijuana and also approximately $1,000 worth of crystal meth.
One of the five firearms located was stolen.
