An early morning traffic stop Monday morning in Wichita Falls led to the discovery of more than 16 pounds of marijuana.
According to a Wichita Falls Police Department news release, a 2017 Toyota Camry was stopped in the 1000 block of Central Freeway at about 3 a.m. for speeding. When the officers approached the vehicle, they were reportedly able to smell a marijuana odor coming from the vehicle.
Officers asked the driver of the Camry, 28-year-old Jeffery Alvin Swain II, and passenger Deena Lee Sullivan, 34, to get out of the vehicle. Both are from Gastonia, North Carolina.
Once outside of the vehicle, Swain informed officers that there was a green duffel bag in the car that had marijuana in it. The officers found a duffel bag in the trunk. They found 13 vacuum sealed bags with a green, leafy substance in them.
The substance field tested positive for marijuana. Total weight was 16.7 pounds.
Also discovered in the car were marijuana candies and cannabis oil. Total weight was 171.2 grams.
