A Monroe woman initially picked up for an outstanding warrant is facing a new drug charge after she produced marijuana during booking.
According to an arrest affidavit for Jessica Ross, 27, Raleigh Street, a Monroe police officer was at Wood Street as Ross was booked on a warrant for arrest.
Ross told the booking officer she needed to go to the restroom and was allowed to use the restroom in the finger print room.
Per the report, the booking officer advised the arresting officer that Ross “removed a small clear plastic bag that contained suspected marijuana from inside her Virginia.”
Ross was advised of her rights and said the marijuana was not hers.
She was then transported to Ouachita Correctional Center on the new charges of certain activities regarding contraband in penal institutions prohibited.
The marijuana was logged into evidence by the MPD.
Bond has not yet been set.
