The former professional wrestling star Jimmy Snuka, known as Superfly, has been charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend more than three decades ago.
Prosecutors in Lehigh County, Pa., announced the results of a grand jury investigation into the death of Nancy Argentino, who was 23 when she died in 1983. Snuka said he had returned to the couple’s hotel room in May that year to find Argentino gasping for air, The Morning Call of Allentown reported. Argentino, who was from New York, was pronounced dead at a hospital a day later. An autopsy determined that she had died of traumatic brain injuries.
Snuka, 72 and living in Waterford Township, N.J., was arraigned Tuesday afternoon and sent to Lehigh County Jail.
