Sheriff says marijuana will eventually be legal in North Carolina
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina sheriff recently said he believes marijuana will be legal in the state while speaking publicly at a monthly meeting.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that Buncombe County Sheriff Van Duncan made the statement Friday to a group of about 50 at the Council of Independent Business Owners meeting.
Duncan said he does not support marijuana legalization personally, but does believe it will eventually be legal in the Tar Heel state. He reportedly voiced the same opinion last month.
“Do I think we’re eventually going to see legalization (in North Carolina)?” he asked. “Probably.”
