Three people were wounded in a shooting on the campus of Tennessee State University in Nashville late Thursday, police confirmed.
A university police dispatcher said the campus was on lockdown as of 1:00 a.m. (2:00 a.m. ET), but would not comment further and referred questions to TSU media relations.
Police responded to a call of shots fired just before 11:00 p.m. (midnight ET) at 3500 John A. Merritt Blvd, Tonya Stone, with the Nashville Police Department, said.
The victims, whose conditions were unknown, were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Stone said.
Hospital spokesman Craig Boerner declined to say whether the hospital had received the victims or comment on their conditions, citing federal privacy laws.
Police were still investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
