ASHEVILLE – Families across Western North Carolina took advantage of the sun and the relative warmth to head to Carrier Park after dealing with wet and cold weather.
“Oh yeah, she’s having a good time,” said Ramon Davalos while visiting the park with his daughter. “She’s playing.”
Others played basketball, exercised and played games on the grass.
“I love coming out to capture the hoops,” said Afton Rogers. “It’s really fun. You get sweaty though.”
Chris Weaver says he’s been coming out every first Sunday to play the game similar to Capture the Flag.
“We have played in the snow and we’ve played in the heavy rain and we played when this part of Carrier Park was flooded and we just played on the bank,” said Weaver.
While many were enjoying the sun, others were also thinking about how long it would actually last.
“I get a taste of spring and then I immediately want more. Like I’ll break out the Acapulco shirts. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s over yet.” said David Reinhardt.
In the meantime, he and the others enjoyed the sun while it was there.
Around five, a light rain fell on the park, but many of the families had already left.
